Juice Binge

If you need a little kickstart into a transition, a new way of thinking or feeling, or just a fun thing to do I  highly recommend the Dr. Oz Three-Day Detox Cleanse. Not only is it calorically adequate but it tastes pretty good, too. After three days of drinking nothing but juice (and holding back some pretty big cravings for quesadillas) I feel fabulous, light, and healthy. 

Finale of an Intellectual Journey

It has been a festive week with lots of toasting to the finale of an intellectual and reflective journey. The final class of my MPA program was last weekend and it couldn't of been a better ending. There were tears and smiles, reflections, stories of hardship and success, and even a little graduation ceremony.
It has been such a fruitful 18-months, in large because of the cohort and community we have developed,  the rigorous and progressive curriculum intended to stretch you mind to places you didn't know existed, the continuity and structure of classes and academia, and the world class leaders teaching and facilitating this growth.

Of course, like any ending the confusion and anxiousness of what next looms, sort of like wandering through the jungle without a sight line. I am excited to find my sight line though and know that this is not only the end of a journey but the beginning of a new chapter in my life. 

New Specs

I have been wearing corrective lenses for going on 25 years now and I have only ever owned TWO pairs of glasses. Yeah that's right, not twenty-two but two. I think it is time to grab some new specs. Here are some styles I am considering.

The Other Washington

Getting ready to hop on a plane to the other Washington! I am excited to meet with colleagues, see old friends, educate some politicians, meet (hopefully) some of my fav civic leaders, and rejuvenate my passion for environmental restoration/conservation and young adult work force development.

I love DC's urbanity, cultural diversity (and cuisine), and history.

Hillary

As we say goodbye to HRC as Secretary of State it is the end of an era, at least for now. I hope to see Hillary's name in the 2016  Presidential Election. Until then, here are some of my fav pics of the once First Lady, Presidential Primary Candidate, Senator, and Secretary of State.

Olympia

Last week was the start of the new WA State Legislature with a Republican majority at the helm. This was, of course, supposed to be a democratic majority only until two democrats decided to caucus with the 'pubs,' changing the State Senate to the right.

With the big hairy issues at stake presently like healthcare insurance reform nationally, major education deficits in the state, and economic development issues, having a right wing majority will be challenging - but with Jay Inslee, the state's new governor sworn in just days ago, maybe we will indeed get somewhere. 

The Crawleys

So excited for season three of the Yorkshire socialites, the Crawleys and their servants, to enthrall us will their aristocratic dramas and Edwardian apparel. What gets me every time is the theme song, it takes me to another time and place. Go ahead, see for yourself.
