tennessee - asheville part II

On our recent trip to Asheville Darren and I visited Tennessee, his birth place and home to his extended family. It was fantastic meeting his grandmother (who is such a sweetie) and aunt Carol (who took care of us for a few days and showed us around). We also stayed in a lovely B&B, the Carriage Lane Inn.

We spent a day in Nashville aka The Music City. We had a ball bouncing around to different music venues and exploring the city, which has some incredible architecture.

seattle flowers.

If you love flowers you will love Seattle. You can find incredible blooming flowers pretty much year-round. Of course the summer has many of the hits in full bloom. My summertime favs are hydrangeas and dahlias.

asheville.

We recently celebrated our dear friends Patrick and Jessica's wedding in Asheville, NC. It was filled with barbecue, southern drawls, good friends, and of course tons of dancing. We even had a celebrity there, Sandra Oh!

It was also super special to introduce Asheville to Darren and show him my alma mater, Warren Wilson College. We got to hang with some of our favorite friends, The Smiths, and meet little Brodie, along with lots of other dear friends.

frida.

Frida Khalo is a heroine of mine. She was a pioneering Latina feminist and political activist who inspired many with her art and her courageous personality. These are some of my favorite images.

sunset view park.

Watching the sunset at Sunset View Park in Ballard is one of our fav things to do after a long day to decompress. All it takes is a bottle of vino, some snacks, and a short bike ride to the park and we have a sweet cap to the day.

blanca lake.

This weekend we went on a brutal hike up to Blanca Lake in the Central Cascades. Little did we know it was not so much a hike but rather a climb. It was all worth it though as we crested the peak and took once glimpse of the turquoise and Caribbean like waters.

the cape.

It has been a while since my last post.

i have been out of town most recently exploring the "Bay State" (Massachusetts), specifically Cape Cod. It was a lovely trip filled with lobster cracking, cape cod drinking, wedding dancing, and sweating! It was SO HOT! If you haven't ever visited The Cape it is a must!

Did I mention all the Cape Cods that were drank?

beach house.

I absolutely adore the band Beach House. Their etherealistic, dream pop sound gets me every time.   You can't go wrong with their Teen Dream album, which is what seduced me but their new album Bloom is pretty dang fabulous, too. Take a listen and see what you think.
