The Shoe Says it All

With so many land mark rulings and happenings around the country this week, including Wendy Spencer's epic filibuster to keep abortion clinics open in Texas, DOMA struck down, Prop 8, and Obama prioritizing climate change all make me so proud of my country.
The shoe says it all: political resistance, courage, perseverance, equality, integrity, and power.

Sounddbites from Spring Part II

Bachelorette weekend with Rut-Roh-Roetzer

12 lades, one male, a big house, one beautiful lake, plenty of sunshine, and LOTS of boos = one fabulous weekend. It was so good it literally took me an entire week to recover. Something about being with your besties in the summer time on a lake with margaritas in hand makes for lone happy girl. We celebrated the Johnson-to-be with lots of games (paper bag theater hosted by Micha being my fav), great drinks, yummy food cooked by all, and constant hilarity. Can't wait for the wedding to replay the fun!

Lake Shasta- back yard of the house.

An evening with some saucy sailors.

Soundbites from Spring Part I

It must have been a busy spring considering my last post was more than a month ago. So, to catch up I will dedicate the next handful of posts to this Spring's soundbites.
  • Darren's birthday. We celebrated in style by riding our bikes to Port Townsend. It was a lovely and bucolic ride. Of course we were so deserving of calories upon finishing the ride, we began imbibing quickly and forgot to stop. Needless to say, the ride home the next day was a bit challenging (see picture below for evidence).

  • Mount St. Helens. A group of friends, along with Darren and I, made the journey down South for our annual ascent of Mount St. Helens. A couple highlights from the trip included:
    • Forgetting our headlamps causing us to hike in the dark via my i-phone flashlight.
    •  The wind blowing so hard that every step we took caused us fear of blowing off the mountain.
    • Snowboarding fresh lines down the volcano.
    • Drinking an IPA upon our finish at the trail head.
